There are 24 faculties in the department, including 10 professors (1 visiting professor), 8 associate professors and 6 lecturers, 1awarded with National Model Worker, 3 awarded with National Hundred Thousand-and-Ten Thousand Talents Project, National Outstanding Youth and Yangtze River Scholars, 6 awarded with provincial talents such as Taishan industry leading Talents, and Experts in the western economic uplift belt. There are 5 first-level,2 second-level and 5 third-level talents of SDAU 1512 project. Fifteenprofessors are enrolled in national-level academic institutions. 1 Chair, 4 Experts and 1 experimental station master the Shandong Modern Agricultural Industry & Technology System. The first-class discipline superior innovation team of Shandong Province was established in our department. The research in somatic cell cloning, oocyte maturation and activation, and its molecular mechanisms response to stressranks at the forefront of the world. The discoveries in gene mining and assistant breeding technology, establishments of modern efficient breeding system and breed cultivation of livestockrank at the national leading level.

Several scientific research platforms have been established, such as a special major of national grade of animal science, Program for Doctor and Master Degree of the Animal Science First-Level Discipline, center for post-doctoral studies, provincial collaborative innovation center of green and low-carbon animal husbandry, provincial key laboratories of animal bioengineering and disease control, and provincial key laboratories of animal reproduction and breeding biotechnology. The faculties in the department undertake 18 core courses for undergraduate students majoring in Animal Science, such as AnimalGenetics, Animal Breeding, Animal Reproduction, Animal Production, and Biostatistics. There are 36 master's and doctoral courses of Animal Genetics, Breeding and Reproduction Program. Additionally, more than 30 teaching projects have been studied in the Department.

Since the Twelfth Five-Year Plan, faculties havetaken charge of more than 100 research projects at different levels, such as the National Natural Science Foundation and the National Key R&D Program, with an average annual funding of more than 12.0 million yuan. Faculties in the department have been awarded many rewards, such as1 SecondClass Prize of National Scientific and Technological Progress Award, 4First- orSecond-class Prizes for Shandong ProvincialScientific and Technological Progress, discovered 8 new animal genetic resources, bred 4 new national animal breeds (Kangda meat rabbit, Jiangquan white pig, etc.).

Faculties in the Department emphasize the integration of education and research with animal production, actively participating in scientific and technological innovation and social services. Nine national and provincial leading breeds and applicable technologies were innovated, more than 20 teaching and research bases were established, making outstanding contributions to the transformation and upgrading of animal husbandry and promoting regional economic development of Shandong Province.
